Join us in the "house that feminism built" for an evening of food, fun, performance, and weaving! Bring your favorite finger food to share (in a recyclable or disposable dish, please), then get ready to deconstruct the house and get those hands weaving. Learn about Woven's upcoming calendar of events and add to the mix by sharing your thoughts on the transforming walls.
Woven is an interdisciplinary collaboration by Omaha artists Victoria Hoyt and Camille Hawbaker that is meant to spark conversations around contemporary local feminisms. The exhibition features an interactive fiber arts installation where participants slowly weave a fabric "house" into a rug. Additional artists will co-curate "Open Floor" events and skill-sharing sessions to create opportunities for dialogue and reflection on a variety of feminist perspectives. Together, we hope to strengthen the social fabric of Omaha.
This event is free and open to the public.
Woven is generously supported by the Omaha Creative Institute, the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. Thank you!
