Omaha Creative INstitute
OCI's Emergency Grants are intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified artists whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to resolve the situation. Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency. Damage incurred from natural disasters like fire or flood or emergency medical need are some examples.
Applications accepted on a rolling basis
Emergency grants do not cover requests for rent or fixed expenses like phone bills, utilities, or housing; dental work or chronic illness; capital improvements, or projects of any kind; or situations resulting from general indebtedness or lack of employment. Applicants should be aware that this is a grant program, and that each application is considered on its merits within the criteria of the program. While we aim to assist to as many applicants as we can, submitting an application is not a guarantee of funding.
Any artist who has maintained a residence within the Omaha Metro Area including Washington, Douglas, Cass, Sarpy, and Saunders counties in Nebraska, and Pottawattamie, Mills, and Harrison counties in Iowa for at least one year is eligible to apply. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, as needs arise. If you meet the eligibility criteria (outlined above) you may apply at any time throughout the year, there are no deadlines or application periods.
Upon submitting an application, it will be reviewed by the Executive Director and members of OCI's Board of Directors within 48 hours. During the review, you may be asked to provide additional information before a decision is made.
We assure you that the use of personal information provided in this application will be limited to the internal purposes of Omaha Creative Institute. Information provided will only be shared with senior leadership and the board of directors for the sole purpose of determining eligibility and need.
Proof of Need
If your application is deemed eligible, applicants will be asked to provide proof of need before receiving funds. This may be in the form of a bill, invoice, pictures, or other tangible proof of need.
There is $6,000 available annually. Please only request what is necessary for your situation. Maximum gifts will fall in the $2,000 range.
